Students Paying More For Education

Students Paying More For Education Colleges across the nation are aggregately experiencing decreases in federal budget money for instruction. These figures are met by increased spending on administrative costs, according to an article in The New York Times. These figures are taken from a recent study from colleges and universities reports to the federal government. Students are paying more, and a greater share of the costs, but are arguably getting less, Jane Wellman, the executive director of the Delta Project on Postsecondary Education Costs, Productivity and Accountability, told The New York Times. The Delta Project aims to maintain the quality of education, while still keeping the cost affordable performed this study on the costs of college. The study discovered that college tuition has risen significantly, but universities claim that tuition does not cover much of what it actually costs for education. However, the study also found that students are paying for a much larger portion of their tuition, according to The New York Times. In 2006, students paid for about 50% of their education and some other fees, which has risen from 40% in 2002. These figures are for public institutions and research universities. Budgets for instructors affiliated with private and public institutions have decreased. Budgets for public research institutions have decreased from 64.4% to 63% from 1995 to 2006, and they have decreased from 52.8% to 50.2% for public universities. Budgets going to instructors at private research institutions have had the biggest impact. They have decreased from 62.3% in 1996 to 57.9% in 2006, according to The New York Times. However, the percentages spent on administration and support have increased. Tuition has risen at faster than spending. We see the picture ahead being more of the same, but dramatically more of the same, Wellman told The New York Times.

Critical Reasoning Question 6-Artistic Expression - Private Tutoring

Critical Reasoning Question 6-Artistic Expression BobbiM Feb 7, 2014 The extent to which society is really free can be gauged by its attitude toward artistic expression.  Freedom of expression can easily be violated in even the most outwardly democratic societies.  When a government arts council withholds funding from a dance performance that its members deem obscene, the voices of a few bureaucrats have in fact censored the work of the choreographer, thereby committing the real obscenity of repression. Which of the following, if true, would most seriously weaken the argument above? A.  Members of government arts councils are screened to ensure that their beliefs reflect those of the majority. B.  The term obscenity has several different definitions that should not be used interchangeably for rhetorical effect. C.  Failing to provide financial support for a performance is not the same as actively preventing or inhibiting it. D.  The councils decision could be reversed if the performance were altered to conform to public standards of appropriateness. E.  The definition of obscenity is something on which most members of a society can agree. Think you know the answer? The correct answer is C. The author equates the withholding of government funding with censorship.  (C), which denies that theyre the same thing, destroys the argument.  (A) is irrelevant.  That the councils actions may reflect majority opinion wouldnt justify what the author considers censorship-her definition isnt dependent on what most people think.  (B) complains that the term obscenity is used ambiguously, but its the term censorship thats the problem here.  (D) misses the whole point; in the authors view, denial of funding amounts to censorship, and (D) simply reaffirms this.  And (E), like (A), points to majority opinion, but since the author never denies that most people can agree on whats obscene, this is beside the point.

Specialized Preparation Needed for the SAT Chemistry Subject Test

Specialized Preparation Needed for the SAT Chemistry Subject Test ACT SAT Prep and College Admissions Blog Students who decide to take the SAT Chemistry subject test generally feel that they are well suited for the test because they are doing well in the high school chemistry course they are taking at their high school. What I have found though is that they may not be aware of the specialized preparation that is needed in order to get a top score on the exam beyond their study for the course they are taking at school. There are several reasons for the need for specialized preparation for the exam. This article explains what those are and what the student can do to be better prepared for the test. The SAT test is more comprehensive than the typical high school course. The SAT chemistry test draws questions from all topics that are found in the typical high school chemistry textbook. However, the typical high school chemistry course rarely covers all topics in the textbook being used due to lack of time in the school year. For this reason students who are preparing to take the SAT test typically find there are questions on topics that they have not studied during the chemistry course they are taking at school. Therefore students find that it is wise to take a diagnostic practice test when they start prepping for the SAT test to find topics they are not well prepared for. Then students can study those chemistry topics that they have not covered in the classroom using one of the specialized study guides for the SAT chemistry exam. Nowadays these can be found online as well as in hard copy. Relationship analysis questions on the SAT chemistry test Besides the typical multiple choice questions that are found in most standardized exams, the SAT chemistry test has a unique type of questions that is not found on any other type of chemistry test. These are called relationship analysis questions. Students will not have encountered this type of question previously, so they require specific study to be able to consistently answer them well. Each question consists of two statements.First, students must decide separately whether each statement is true or false. Then if both statements are judged to be true, then they must decide whether the second statement is a good explanation of why the first statement is true.If it is, then the student fills in the CE oval on the answer sheet.CE stands for Correct Explanation. It takes quite a bit of practice to become proficient at answering this type of question, so practice answering this type of question is an important part of preparing for the SAT chemistry test. Calculators are not allowed on the SAT chemistry test. In the typical high school chemistry course students are allowed to use scientific or more advanced types of calculators to do the calculations required on the exams for their courses. However, no calculators are allowed to be used to answer the questions on the SAT chemistry exam. Because of this fact, students preparing for the SAT chemistry exam need to practice answering the questions requiring calculations without the benefit of a calculator.Though the arithmetic on the SAT exam is generally not difficult, it can be challenging for students who have become used to doing all of the calculations on a calculator for their coursework. Knowledge of unfamiliar lab equipment Lastly, the SAT chemistry test may include questions that refer to lab equipment and procedures that students have not had the opportunity to use in their high school courses.Typically, the experiments done in high school chemistry courses vary greatly, and the lab equipment used may also vary widely between schools. Therefore, students will need to do some research about lab procedures and equipment that they have not encountered in their high school courses in order to be prepared for questions on the SAT exam that refer to this equipment. Conclusion Based on these unique aspects of the SAT chemistry exam, students who plan to take the exam should expect to spend at least a couple of months of specialized preparation for the exam besides their usual study for their coursework. Taking a diagnostic practice exam at the beginning of their preparation for the SAT exam will be very important in planning a course of study that will lead to a high score on the test. 2017 April 1st Fool`s Day Pranks

2017 April 1st Fool`s Day Pranks April 1st 2017 is April Fools day. If your friend ask for your help with harvesting picking freshly-grown spaghetti from his yard be weary and perhaps smile. Read on to find more famous pranks and our announcement that an medieval capital was found in the sea.April 1st Fools day is celebrated differently around the world. In the UK pranksters shout April fool! at the recipient, who becomes the April fool. In France and French-speaking Canada people love to attach a paper fish to the victims back without being noticed. This is called poisson davril or Aprils fish. On April 1st we Americans often hear incredible stories in the news media. For example on April 1st, 2004 Burger King announced a new item on their menu: the Left-Handed Wopper. It had all condiments rotated by 180 degrees. In 1987 a Los Angeles DJ broadcasted that the LA highway system would be shut down for repairs due to bad condition. the California Highway Patrol reported that they were flooded with calls throughout the day. And as one would expect the authorities of California Department of Transportation didnt find this prank funny and had a hearty talk with the stations managers. The April 1999 edition of Red Herring Magazine included an article about a revolutionary new technology that allowed users to compose and send email telepathically. The company developing this technology was Tidal Wave Communications, led by Yuri Maldini, a computer genius from Estonia. Sounds wonderful! In line with these previously announcements TutorZ announces today that one of his tutors the archaeology tutor and world traveler Dirk Wagner has found the location of the medieval capital Kingslanding as seen in the popular TV show Game of Thrones off the coast of modern day Croatia. The city is entirely burned down presumably by dragon fire and as a result sunk into the Mediterranean Sea.

Shake It Up 5 Ways to Upgrade Breakfast

Shake It Up 5 Ways to Upgrade Breakfast Image via allrecipes.com Click here for a two-minute video on how to prepare omelets IN A BAG. Can it get any easier to make breakfast?! From Plain Toast to Avocado, Bacon, Egg Toast I am guilty of just spreading butter on my toast in the morning as a lazy “hack.” Paired with a cup of coffee, I can’t think of a more unhealthy breakfast. Unless you’re counting not eating at all. Image via foodmento.com Toast can be upgraded with very few ingredients. Here are some basic steps: Step 1: Cook an egg, poached or sunny-side up, and some bacon. Step 2: Slice, or mash up, half of an avocado. Step 3: Toast your sliced bread. Step 4: Place toast on a  plate and top it off with egg, bacon, and avocado. For Step 4, you can order the toppings in  any way you’d like. However, I’ve learned that laying the avocado first keeps the egg and bacon firmly in place. Think of it as the glue in your wonderful toast. Sprinkle some salt and pepper and enjoy. From Oatmeal to Fruit, Nuts Oats Mix You are lying to yourself if you say you genuinely like eating oatmeal. No matter how healthy oatmeal is for your heart, its bland taste is just not how you want to start your day. Image via pinterest.com Luckily, you can always mix any kind of nuts and fruit into your bowl to add some flavor. For those that want to increase their intake of vitamins and minerals, here are some superfoods you can add to your oatmeal  for a healthy kick. From Apple to Assorted Fruit Bowl Who else is guilty of running out the door with just a fruit from the fruit bowl in hand? Whether you’re rushing to class or late for work, you should know that one fruit will not give you enough energy for a few hours. Image via pinterest.com Instead, try tossing in various fruits and mixing them in a bowl. Bag the mixed fruit and refrigerate in sizable portions overnight. In the morning, you’ll have a variety of sweet snacks ready to go, and you won’t have to do any preparing at all! From Banana Shake to Energy Boost Smoothie During my first attempts at meal-planning, I figured that a fruit shake would make for a quick and easy breakfast trick. Did you know you can save your money on Juiceland or Jamba Juice by making your own healthy smoothies at home? Image via allrecipes.com Researchers and athletes both agree that a shake should be more than just a blend of banana, ice, milk, and sugar. Here are a few tips to strengthening your liquid breakfast meal: 1. Add a green base. You want to eat something that will give you the energy to get through your day. Kale and spinach are great bases to get your dose of fiber. 2. Substitute sugar with honey. The less you eat processed sugar, the healthier and better your body will feel. Honey is naturally made. 3. Freeze your fruit. You can buy bagged frozen fruit or chop up your fruit and freeze them in Ziplock bags. 4. Add half of an avocado. I am not just saying this because it’s my favorite thing to eat. According to Victoria, of Bon Appétit Magazine, “You’ll get lots of potassium, B-complex vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber.” Avocados are also great for satisfying hunger and lowering bad cholesterol. Consider preparing your smoothie ingredients the night before so you can easily blend them in the morning. (Tip: use your assorted fruit that you’ve already sized and prepped!) You can also make various kinds of smoothies by using different ingredients. Maybe a green smoothie on a Monday and a mango smoothie on Tuesday? Either way, variety is key to not tiring of liquid meals!
